“We are looking at an all-in price, if you have to go out and actually need to buy a new computer and you’re going to buy the Rift … at most you should be in that $1,500 range,”
Given that the consumer can purchase a gaming PC now with the recommended specs for around $1,229 pre tax like the following from DigitalStorm
DigitalStorm Vanquish 3
Specs:
- NVIDIA GTX 970 4GB
- Intel Core i5 4590 CPU
- 8GB 1600MHz Memory
- 120GB Samsung EVO SSD
- 1TB 7200RPM HDD
- Upgraded CPU Air Cooling
- Z97 Motherboard
- 600W Corsair CX Power Supply
- DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW
- Microsoft Windows 8.1
Can we assume that Oculus Rift will be priced at an affordable $200? This is on the assumption that a monitor is not purchased with the gaming pc and the price of the system will be lower in early 2016.
More may be revealed Oculus Connect, the second annual developer conference coming
September 23-25th, 2015.
